Waterproof and dustproof design details of the inlet and outlet holes of the PLC electrical cabinet sheet metal shell

Hole layout and sealing planning

When designing the wire entry and outlet holes of the PLC electrical cabinet sheet metal shell, the hole layout should be planned reasonably first. According to the direction and number of the electrical lines, the position and size of the holes should be determined to avoid the lines being messy or excessively bent due to unreasonable hole positions, which will affect the waterproof and dustproof effect. For sealing planning, materials such as rubber sealing rings or sealing putty are often used. The rubber sealing ring has good elasticity and sealing performance. According to the thickness of the incoming or outgoing cable, a sealing ring with a suitable inner diameter is selected and installed on the edge of the hole. When the cable passes through, it can fit the cable sheath tightly and effectively block dust and moisture. Sealing putty can be used for holes with irregular shapes or gaps. It can fill the holes and form a sealing layer after curing to prevent water and dust from intruding.

Application of protective accessories

In order to enhance the waterproof and dustproof capabilities of the wire entry and outlet holes, a variety of protective accessories will be applied. For example, the use of cable waterproof connectors, which have sealing gaskets and clamping devices inside, can not only fix the cable, but also form a reliable seal between the cable and the hole wall. For the incoming or outgoing of multiple cables, a junction box can be used. The junction box itself has a high level of protection. Its incoming and outgoing holes are sealed. The cables are concentrated in the junction box for connection, and then connected to the electrical cabinet to further improve the overall waterproof and dustproof performance. In addition, a protective gland can be installed, which can adapt to cables of different specifications. By tightening the nut, the seal can be pressed against the cable to achieve the purpose of waterproof and dustproof, while also preventing the cable from being pulled and damaged.

Structural optimization and drainage design

The optimization of the sheet metal structure around the incoming and outgoing holes is also critical. Designing the metal edges around the holes into arcs or bevels can avoid water accumulation or dust accumulation. A drainage trough or drainage hole is set near the outlet hole at the bottom of the electrical cabinet. When a small amount of water vapor enters, it can guide the water flow to drain and prevent water from soaking the cables or electrical components. For the inlet holes located at the top or side of the electrical cabinet, which are easily washed by rain, water retaining eaves or guide plates can be designed to change the direction of water flow, reduce the possibility of water directly entering the hole, and ensure the waterproof and dustproof effect from the structural level.

Installation and maintenance points

During the installation process, ensure that the sealing materials or protective accessories are installed correctly and firmly. For rubber sealing rings, check whether they are intact and undamaged, and do not twist during installation. Protective accessories such as cable waterproof connectors should be tightened according to the specified torque to ensure sealing performance. In daily maintenance, regularly check the sealing of the inlet and outlet holes. If the sealing ring is found to be aging, the sealing putty is cracked, or the protective accessories are loose, they should be replaced or repaired in time. At the same time, pay attention to cleaning the dust and debris around the hole to prevent it from affecting the sealing effect or entering the electrical cabinet, ensuring that the inlet and outlet holes of the PLC electrical cabinet sheet metal shell always maintain good waterproof and dustproof performance, and ensuring the stable operation of the equipment in the electrical cabinet.
